First Three Months of 2021 sees more CBP Southwest Land Border encounters than all of last year

Numbers are up up up when it comes to the influx of migrants on the southern border of the United States.

CBP has had over 569,800 encounters this fiscal year along the Southwest border, including over 172,000 encounters in March.

That number of 172,000 in the month of March alone is “the highest monthly tally since March 2001, when nearly 171,000 were caught.” You read that correctly. That’s the highest monthly tally in twenty years! By comparison, you can see from the below screenshot that we’ve already surpassed the total number of encounters from the years 2020 and 2018 in the first three months of this year.

Keep in mind, these numbers are only the amount of encounters with Customs and Border Patrol. They do not include all of those who entered illegally and were not caught.

We are basically in unchartered territory now. We will see how the numbers fare from here on out. Buckle up.
